April DeclineIn April, imports from Ukraine decreased by 47.2% compared to April 2023 and by 38.6% compared to the previous month, reaching 50.04 thousand tons.

January PeakUkrainian pig iron supply to the US market slowed after January 2024, when the highest monthly figure since September 2021 was recorded at 175.87 thousand tons.

Overall US ImportsJanuary to April 2024, the US reduced its total pig iron imports by 29.9%      compared to the same period in 2023, totaling 1.68 million tons.

April Total Imports: In April 2024, US pig iron imports decreased by 20.4% year-on-year and 13.5% month-on-month, totaling 296.34 thousand tons.

Ukrainian ExportsUkraine exported 417.94 thousand tons of pig iron in the first four months of 2024, down 21.7% year-on-year.

EU ExportsIn January-April 2024, exports of Ukrainian pig iron to European steel mills reached 79.29 thousand tons, down 19.7% year-on-year.

Historical DeclinePig  iron exports from Ukraine in 2023 decreased by 5.8% compared to 2022,      totaling 1.25 million tons, a 61.4% decrease from pre-war 2021 levels.
