Monthly DeclineIndustrial production in France fell by 2.1% in May 2024 compared to the previous month, following a 0.6% increase in April.

Three-Month TrendOver the past three months (March-May), French industrial production decreased by 0.6% compared to the December-February period.

Yearly ComparisonIndustrial production in France from March to May 2024 was 0.4% lower compared to the same period in 2023.

Metal Products and Machinery: The production of basic metals and finished metal products, along with machinery and equipment, fell by 3.1% month-on-month in May, whereas it remained unchanged in April.

Mining IndustryThe mining industry's production declined by 2.2% in May, following a 1.9% increase in April.

Construction Industry: Production in the construction industry fell by 1% in May, compared to a 1.1% decline in April.

Steel Production Increase:  Steel enterprises in France increased steel production by 36.4% in May 2024 compared to the previous month, reaching 1.09 million tons.

Year-on-Year Steel Production:  Steel smelting by French metallurgists in May 2024 increased by 34.5% compared to May 2023.

January-May Steel ProductionFor the period of January to May 2024, steel production in France increased by 6.6% compared to the same period in 2023, totaling 4.43 million tons.
