In order to keep track of any new variants of the virus. The Union health ministry requested in a letter on Tuesday that all states as well as the Union Territories speed up the whole genetic testing of positive Covid-19 tests.
The Union Health Secretary, Rajesh Bhushan said in the letter that such an initiative will enable rapid identification of new variants. If there is any, circulating throughout the country.
