India’s Fuel Consumption Hits Seven-Month High in December

According to data from the oil ministry’s Petroleum Planning and Analysis Cell (PPAC), India’s fuel consumption reached a seven-month high in December of 20.054 million metric tonnes.

According to data, total consumption—a measure of oil demand—rose 6.2% in December from 18.89 million tonnes in November. When compared to the same time last year, it was up about 2.6%.

Diesel sales, which are primarily utilised by trucks or commercial passenger cars, increased to 7.60 million tonnes in March at a monthly rate of 0.9%.

Gas sales in December decreased by 4.5% to 2.99 million tonnes from the previous month.

According to data released last week by Indian automakers, sales of sports utility vehicles increased in December. While sales of small cars decreased despite significant discounts.

India’s Fuel oil consumption raised by 9.6% in December. But bitumen sales—which are used to build roads—rose by 12.9% from November.

According to the data, sales of naphtha increased by 27.9% to approximately 1.33 million tonnes. While sales of cooking gas, or liquefied petroleum gas, increased by 5.6% to 2.63 million tonnes.
