According to a company statement released on Monday, December 18. The state-run Indian company Coal India Limited (CIL). Which is the only domestic supplier of coking coal, produced 35.97 million metric tonnes during the April–November period of the fiscal year 2023–24. A 12 percent increase over the same period the previous year. As domestic steelmakers’ demand rises and importing essential input materials becomes more difficult.

The company said that its output increase is noteworthy. 1.41 million mt of washed coal were produced during the specified period, an increase of 8.11 percent, according to Coal India Limited (CIL).

This increase is a component of the miner’s plan to enhance coal quality by eliminating ash and other impurities and producing coking coal of a higher grade, which is desire by domestic steel mills.
