May Export DeclineIn May this year, Japanese ferrous scrap exports totaled 520,492 metric tons, marking a 12.0 percent decrease compared to 591,779 metric tons in May of the previous year.

Year-to-Date DeclineIn the January-May period, Japan exported 2.59 million metric tons of scrap, down by 8.3 percent year on year.

Top Importer - VietnamVietnam was the largest importer of Japanese scrap during this period, importing 1 million metric tons, a significant increase of 49.5 percent year on year.

South Korea ImportsSouth Korea imported 702,222 metric tons of Japanese scrap in the January-May period, representing a 41.6 percent decline year on year.

Taiwan ImportsTaiwan imported 326,854 metric tons of Japanese scrap, down by 13.6 percent compared to the same period last year.

Malaysia ImportsJapanese scrap exports to Malaysia reached 141,327 metric tons in the January-May period, up from 129,655 metric tons in the same period of the previous year.

Overall Export TrendThe overall trend for Japanese ferrous scrap exports shows a decline in volume both on a monthly and year-to-date basis.
